I don’t want to dwell on painful memories but I have two embarrassing speaking memories on my mind right now:

– A telemarketer hung up the phone on me without any questions after I had a severe speech block.

– People asked my friends behind my back if I had some mental issues/disability.

Just a quick idea: use a picture of a person you find intimidating and look at it, while you’re reading aloud.
