GáborParticipant
I’ve just had a 30 minutes work call from my manager and I think my speech was pretty decent with some smaller blocks and hesitations.
GáborParticipantYes, I had some nasty blocks recently but also had some surprising fluency successes, like I’ve just had a 30 minutes work call from my manager and I think my speech was pretty decent with some smaller blocks and hesitations.
GáborParticipantI just realized I forgot a very important part, when I’m using affirmations: imagine myself in a tough speaking situation, in which I tell the affirmations fluently. I imagined myself back in high school standing in the front of my class (which was a difficult and often humiliating situation for me at that time) and the fact that now I tell my affirmations fluently almost brought tears into my eyes.
Lee’s marvelous book is so full of hidden gems which are easy to overlook if we only read it once or twice.
GáborParticipantNo and I don’t understand those who are “proud” of their stuttering and think that it somehow makes them unique (I’ve read an online stuttering forum on Reddit and that’s full of those people).

GáborParticipantThat’s the only crutch I don’t really get. In the past I usually stuttered even when I was smiling as I told a story, while being enthusiastic.
GáborParticipantYes, I received a reply and I really appreciate it. Thank you for your help!

I think I stutter a little bit less in English and German. In the English language, the words starting with the letters “pr” (like “probability” or “precisely”) bother me the most (in Hungarian we don’t have that many words, so I can avoid them). Thinking about the words also doesn’t help, when I speak a foreign language.
GáborParticipant“Itlookslikethis… andit’snotverydifficult… tounderstand”
You don’t have to talk fast without any pauses, while you’re using this technique. It’s actually counterproductive to rush your words as a PWS.
GáborParticipantI think he recommends listening to your own voice while you’re reading aloud your affirmations in a monotonous voice.
GáborParticipantI’d like to use this topic to ask the coaches about two things:
1. I’ve read somewhere in this forum, that after signing up, there’s a free coaching session. Is that correct and if it is, how can I register?
2. Is Lee available for a coaching session and/or working together for a longer period of time?Thank you!
October 11, 2020 at 11:24 am in reply to: How do you get used to speaking and sounding completely different? #27909GáborParticipantYes, and even if it’s exaggerated, it’s still better than stuttering. I know that fact logically, but it’s still a bit hard to accept. And I also feel I’m pretending to be someone I’m really not – but I want to be that person who articulates and speak with passion. 🙂

GáborParticipantThank you! I watched some coaching videos by tags but wasn’t sure if I understand the concept correctly.
So basically, you’re focusing on the melody of your voice (just like when you’re singing).
GáborParticipantThat’s great to hear, because I think maybe fear is the biggest obstacle to beat stuttering.
