Well I think depending on your severity of stuttering you may think it isn’t a habit. I am not a coach so I don’t know the right answer, but being born with a disability isn’t a habit and although stuttering is a habit even if our brain wishes it never existed, as many have proved in the program stuttering can be overcome with patience, determination, and work ethic due to neuroplasticity. If you want to actually understand how people use neuroplasticity to overcome cognitive obstacles for example from stroke, you should read the brain that changes itself by norman doidge and you will get a better understanding of how we can use the same continuous practice to overcome stuttering in months time. Getting over stuttering through practice is really challenging so it can feel like a disability that happens to you all the time or however often you stutter or face stutter threats. But the very least you can do from this program is atleast improve your speech and fears even if it is minor. It is a step in the right direction.
Adam PlayfootParticipantHi Francois
Yea no problem, they are in the bibliography of the 3rd edition Lee wrote. They were “The Brain That Changes Itself” by Norman Doidge (one of my favourite books now and gave me motivation for the program because it is based on neuroplasticity) and I haven’t read it yet but “The Power of Positive Thinking” by Norman Vincent Peale I believe.
Adam PlayfootParticipantNo I have not, and I am very interested in self-hypnosis. I will put it on my to read list thank you Leah.
