Have any of you tried self-hypnosis? I’ve tried both Auto-suggestions and Self-hypnosis, and I personally prefer self-hypnosis.
June 16, 2020 at 2:49 pm #27121AnonymousInactiveJavier, I have never tried self-hypnosis as I did not need it to self-cure. But the more I hear and read about it, the more I am interested in trying it to elevate other areas of my life and not just stuttering. Why do you prefer self-hypnosis?
June 16, 2020 at 3:03 pm #27124JavierModeratorWhen I read Lee’s book and reached the section about self-hypnosis, Lee said that self-hypnosis (SH) is like auto-suggestions (AS) on steroids, because it reaches the subconscious mind directly, without having to go through the conscious mind (a filter). So I decided to give it a try, and I got Melvin Power’s book, “A practical Guide to Selfhypnosis”. SH is not that difficult, and its not dangerous at all. You are always aware of what’s happening around you. It’s just that you’re really relaxed, which is actually a great feeling. But the main reason I choose SH over AS is that it is a lot more intense, but it takes a few tries to learn SH. It took me like 2-3 weeks to see the effects of SH since I first began to do it, most likely because I was learning how to “get under”.
Give it a try! Melvin Power’s book is really short, and he explains it very clearly.June 17, 2020 at 2:41 pm #27138AnonymousInactiveThank you Javier, I will try that and I will update this forum once I have tried it for the first time. Let’s see how many people we can get to join me in trying this for the first time!
June 18, 2020 at 8:12 am #27145JavierModeratorSure! Let me know!
By the way, you were on the SpeechMastersClub Talk in which certified hypnotist Monica spoke about this subject, weren’t you? I found it very interesting!!June 19, 2020 at 2:58 pm #27157AnonymousInactiveYes, I thought it was brilliant! You know, speech aside, I always thought that we are a product of our circumstance. I thought that how we think and behave as adults are due to our childhoods and there is no way to fix it. Boy, was I surprised when I started seeing the results from the daily recitals of my Autosuggestions. I have changed and grown so much in the past 3 years, and it is all due to my having overcome a stutter. That is what Lee means when he speaks about stuttering being the “biggest blessing in our lives”. So, I can only imagine how big of an impact SH will have on people. Does anybody else agree that AS and SH can be used for so much more than just overcoming stuttering?
