I noticed that when reading aloud, everything was going great and after a month I suddenly felt worse, for no apparent reason. I use all crutces… Is this normal in some period. And I also want to ask, one more thing: I notice that I find it very difficult to read news and serious text. I am practice reading aloud for 3 mounths, and my spech is much better.
Should I read only poem…July 1, 2020 at 8:46 am #27276JavierModeratorHi Ahmed,
from the information that you are giving me, I feel that the problem is more related to mind training and being a Speech Cop:
1) Are you doing daily Auto-suggestion or Self-hypnosis treatments?
2) Speech Cop: if your speech has worsened, my guess is that you are not being a Speech Cop. Are you using the Crutches while speaking? If you are stuttering, it means you are forcing your words instead of pausing (1000-1, 1000-2) and using a Crutch. Remember that we always the choice of using a Crutch instead of forcing words. When we force words it is because we consciously and/or subconsciously allow this to happen. Stuttering is a habit that we have acquired many years ago, so it is not easy to be a Speech Cop and do something different.Regarding the reading aloud, I suggest you to read all kinds of texts, at least that’s what I do: novels, newspaper articles, all the emails and documents I normally read at work, Whatsapp messages, Instagram, even this message that I’m currently writing to you, etc. If you don’t want to disturb the people around you, you can read these texts in a whisper, your mind will hear you just as well as if you were reading in your regular voice. Try to read aloud in a passionate way always.
You also said that you are using all the Crutches well…. Maybe you’re right, but maybe not. Don’t get me wrong… A lot of the people I coach think that they are using them correctly and when I drill them, they are actually using them incorrectly. I suggest you to go to the Video section of this website and search “Crutches drill”, and compare the way you do it with the way the coach does them. And even better, you can ask to be coached by one of us, this way we will be able to check what you’re doing right and what can be improved.
Have a great day!
July 1, 2020 at 9:21 am #27277AnonymousInactiveYes I use daily training, reading aloud 1 hour.
Use menral training 15 minutes in morning and 15 before bed..
I use and repat all say few crutches:
Smile, Soud before word,Linkage, Whisper, Slowly Modulatio..I repeat that sentence in my mind all day..
Yes, maybe I need more time…
It much much better, when I use cruchesI daily training, but I must be better speakerJuly 1, 2020 at 9:30 am #27278JavierModeratorthe idea is that every week you have to experience improvements in your speech. If this is the case, you’ll end up achieving your goal. In my case, it took me 8 months more or less. But I have coached people who did this in a bit more than one month.
The way I see it, as long as you are improving every week, you’re on the right path. Continue working on your speech, practicing and using the Crutches, doing mind training treatments every day and being a Speech Cop.
One last thing… Have you considered joining us at the SpeechMasters Club meetings. You will have the chance to meet us, other PWS/PWSS, and we all learn about improving our speech. I strongly recommend it to everybody who shares this goal.July 1, 2020 at 9:45 am #27279AnonymousInactiveYes,my speach goes better, every day…
But maybe few days, my spech goes worst, I do not know reason, maybe it is neurogical, or some kind of mind resistance..Maybe I am tired in that day…
I think it is normaly
I think I have to make more pause between sentence and as you sead It is not possible to stutter when you use crutches….
Yes, send my link for SpechMaster club…July 1, 2020 at 9:50 am #27280JavierModeratorHere’s the link to the SpeechMasters Club (anyway, you can find it if you click on the “Community” Section and then go to “SpeechMasters Club”): https://worldstopstuttering.org/speech-club/
About your bad days…. I just want to remind you the words of Dr. Frank S. Caprio, that are mentioned at the beginning of Lee’s books:
“Most of us go through life
knowing only half of ourselves…
So, we use only half of our abilities…
We suffer –
because we are strangers to ourselves.”“We have free choice:
to accept or reject thoughts.
Nothing compels us to think anything
except our own desires.Use your mental switch
to dictate your thoughts…
Believe that you can improve
and you will.”Frank S. Caprio, M.D.

But I must tell you Lee method help me a lot…July 1, 2020 at 10:50 am #27282JavierModeratorI agree with you, we’ve been stuttering for so many years, and changing such a habit is surely not easy, but it can be achieved. More than 100 people have done it and posted their Success Story. If they have done it, so can you. It requires patience and determination, that’s all!
July 5, 2020 at 8:16 am #27307AnonymousInactiveHi Javie and Ahmed,
I do not think that I could possibly add to Javier’s response as he is spot on! I definitely agree that it is completely mental, the whole belief that we stutter on “certain words” or in “certain situations” is a complete and utter fallacy. It is something that as PWS we have taught ourselves to believe. Sure, our stuttering increases in pressure situations due to our nerves skyrocketing, but the pressured situation does NOT cause our stuttering, as much as we do not want to believe it, we are the cause of our stuttering no matter the situation.
If I could offer one piece of advice, I would tell you to have patience, your stutter was not ingrained into your brain in a few days, nor will you get rid of it in a few days. Remember that slow and steady wins the race. I would ask you to give attention to one crutch at a time. Sometimes we think that we have mastered a crutch when in fact we have not. I would ask you to only practice ONE crutch a day going forward. So to practice all 13 crutches will take you 13 days. You then repeat the process until such time as you can say “wow I used crutch 1 today without even thinking about it”.
Try this and let me know how it is going in 2 weeks. Keep us updated every two weeks and we will reevaluate your process! Good luck and hope to see you at Speech Masters Club this Saturday, July 11 at 9am New York Time.
July 6, 2020 at 1:25 pm #27332AnonymousInactiveI have one question…
How to find motivation, plan or tactic for long speak(presentation, speach about your self)
I feel presure when I must have long speach..I do not have problem with short sentence…July 6, 2020 at 1:43 pm #27333JavierModeratorHi Ahmed,
I think that the best suggestion, rather than writing is, it to recommend you to go to the “Video” section of this website. Over there you can search videos by tags. Look for the ones with the tag “presentation”. On those videos of coaching sessions we work precisely on that. I’m sure you’ll find them very useful. All the PWS that I have coached and asked me for help regarding presentations, always do pretty well when they follow our advice.July 6, 2020 at 1:47 pm #27334AnonymousInactiveOk, thank you
July 7, 2020 at 10:26 am #27337AnonymousInactiveAlso Ahmed, the most important thing you can do while planning to give a presentation is to NOT PLAN WORDS! So yes, you need to have a general idea of what you want to say, but do not plan the exact words that you will use. I would suggest writing down certain points on a card, points that you will need to discuss. Then when you do practice the speech, you will find that each time you practice it you will use different words.
As long as you get across everything that needs to be said, it does not matter how you say it. If you would like a coaching session, why don’t you sign up for coaching with one of our certified coaches? We can demonstrate exactly how to prepare for a speech/presentation. NB – Don’t think words!
July 7, 2020 at 11:59 am #27339AnonymousInactiveI have to practice mentally. When I need to talk for a long time, I immediately get nervous.
