I’m Doug and I am from South Carolina. Most of you have seen my ugly mug on Speech Anxiety sites and videos. I am reintroducing myself because I have been on the sidelines for a while. I’m not going into detail, but I have Parkinson’s Disease MSA. You can look it up if you want to, but I am feeling better and really hoping to help out as much as I can when needed.
I am 59 3/4 years old. (Still in my fifties.) You can see my testimony on here, but I will brief it. I have stuttered since the age of 3. Living in a rural area in the South years ago, there wasn’t many therapists. I had one lady who tried to help me in my elementary years but it was basically phonics.
I looked for help and gave up so I struggled all my life on my speech. I learn my tricks, mostly avoidance and I made it until the age of 57. That’s when I found Lee’s book and the rest is history. I read the book and was at least 50 percent fluent after reading.
After getting in contact with Lee we Skyped several times and I was fluent in 3 months. After all those years of a stuttering, I beat it in a few months! It takes work and determination.
