My first post on the forum!!!! My name is Adam. I’m a Syracuse NYer!! And like all here, I’ve struggled with stuttering since age 8!!!! Stoppages, repeats……hey we all had the problem—why am I repeating what we already know!! Our battles were fought with anger and frustration!!!! But with Coach Lee….we are finding our voice or maybe more important HOPE again!!! Speaking is fun-but ya gotta make it fun! Make people glad to see you!!! Eating out and asking for something to eat is simple when before it was so difficult. Sure we could order what we wanted, but it was extremely difficult!!!! Not so much anymore. I like to think, we are brought out of our shells because of Lee…….he can tell us how to treat us….but it’s up to us if we want to treat ourselves!!!! Here is a success I had today that fluid people would take for granted and think nothing of-but for us …..a break through!!!! Here is a story today that happened at 4pm my time!! I just had a zoom chat with a favorite singer of mine who had no Idea I was a PWSS…NO one even there HEARD a stutter-17 others including yours truly!!! I would have never been able to sound the way I did a yr or 2 ago!!! And I made an observation…Some people had a question or 2 for this dude—!! I thought to myself “these folks are asking questions spontaneously…but if I ask I might stumble and I don’t want that-because I’m thinking of what to ask and therefore I might trip up” If I make enthusiastic remarks off the cuff about his albums and don’t ask any questions”….well that was a knock-out..I think today was a blessing in disguise—a group meeting of NOT PWSS, but total fluid people. I sounded just like everyone else…..no one would have thought I had a speak problem…….!!! Just wanted to share that! I made up for missing your group meeting today by attending another group meeting EQUALY terrific!!!! I’m enthused!!! We are slamming it to A PULP! Let us not rest on our laurals!

Who would hve thought that we could stop stuttering? If 2 years ago or so you had told me that I would become a PWSS, nd that I would be able to speak to a group of around 20 people (the SpeechAnxietyMasters meetings on Saturdays), I would think that you’re nuts. But here I am 🙂 and I’ve never been happier.
We can stop stuttering, as long as we believe we can do it, and we follow what Lee Lovett’s book and the coaches say. It will require patience and determination, but it is possible!October 2, 2020 at 9:47 am #27842AnonymousInactiveHi Adam,
I am so happy to hear this. You have come so far with your stutter, it is truly astonishing. I would never have believed that you ever stuttered.
Hope to see you on Saturday at the SAM meeting! Looking forward to it.
