Hi,
I’m a 53 yo teacher currently living in Tennessee. I’ve supposedly stuttered since I started speaking, though notes my mother kept stated that teachers did not notice my stuttering the way my parents did. I have been through all sorts of speech therapy as a child/adolescent. Most of it very stressful and made me feel like a failure because it was expensive and I never met the expectations. I mostly stutter in personal situations, when talking about myself. I am a teacher and normally have minimal concerns about my speech with students. I also don’t stutter significantly when public speaking. But I sure have trouble at parties or one-on-one and of course the phone is my worst nightmare! I have worked on my speech as an adult on and off again, following John Harrison’s ideas especially. My speech has been horrible now that I am teaching to a computer screen with remote learning rather than live with my students. I am always browsing the internet looking for new ideas and thus recently stumbled upon Lee Lovett. I am thrilled with having new hope and thrilled to be here! Greetings, everyone!September 21, 2020 at 9:02 am #27763JavierModeratorHi Erica!! Welcome to World Stop Stuttering Association. You’ve come to the right place. If you’ve taken a look at the website, read Lee’s “Stuttering & Anxiety Self-cures” (and taken the online course) and seen the videos of the coaching sessions, the Success Stories and the videos of the Speech Club meetings we have every Saturday, you will surely have noticed that a lot of people have stopped stuttering, some of them being very severe cases. So there is no reason to think that you can’t do it. If +100 people have become People Who Stopped Stuttering (PWSS), so can you.
My name is Javier, I live in Madrid (Spain), I am a PWSS (used to be a severe stutterer) and one of the Certified Speech Coaches here. Here’s the link to my Success Story, in case you’re curious: https://speechanxietyanonymous.org/pwss/javier-madrid-spain/.
Feel free to ask us anything. Be sure of one thing, if you follow our method, your stuttering days are counted!!

I’ve been diving in to the lessons and Lee’s book and have started with the reading aloud and the autosuggestion treatments as I learn the crutches. The program makes a lot of sense! But at the same time I am nervous because I have stuttered for so long that I am so used to the fear taking over and just plowing through blindly what I’m trying to say. I appreciate all the success stories and support here! Thank you!
September 22, 2020 at 8:03 am #27783JavierModeratorhi again Erica. It’s normal to have those fears. Everybody here has been stuttering for most of their lifes, so getting rid of such a habit is not easy, but trust me, it can be done. It’s a matter of time. Have you read Doug’s Success Story? That’s an amazing one! I’m sure it will motivate you. Here’s the link:
You can see some of his videos in the video library. On the home page, if you scroll down a bit you will find a very short video of him too, on the part where we talk about the video library. The title of the video is: “How speech coaching videos help you stop stuttering”.
I’m sure about one thing: you can stop stuttering too. There is no reason to believe that you can’t. All you need is to believe that you can do it, and follow our program. Want to bet something? ; )
