On 18th July 2020 I was informed by Prathusha that I was no longer a PWS and became a PWSS. For a couple of weeks, I couldn’t believe that I had really achieved it and made it to the speech hall of fame of successful people who self-cured themselves.
But then I soon realised becoming a PWSS was just a stage in this fight against stuttering & the journey of loving to speak has just begun. I knew there were major challenges lying ahead of me which I would have to face in the real world where I would have to stay consistent in using Lee’s methods, be patient and stay calm in unfavourable situations & at the same time employing the tools I learnt at WSSA. I constantly reminded myself that I have got all the tools and just I need to make sure I do the 1-2-3 punch each and everyday without fail and be a speech cop to ensure that I don’t relapse or prevent any bad incident.
It’s been 6 months since I have turned into a PWSS. This Post cure phase was surely the happiest phase of my life & I know that it will only get better from now. I now love to speak no matter what is the situation & whom I want to speak with. I enjoy taking calls and stay relaxed throughout the conversation. Though I am being careful that I don’t put myself in unnecessary pressure and slowly increase my comfort zone as Prathusha advised me to increase your comfort by 10% at each step.
Now I can converse with people a thousand times better than before, The conversations have become enjoyable because of the fluency I have achieved and I feel so satisfied that I could speak what I wanted to speak at that moment & have no regrets later 🙂
It wasn’t a smooth ride though there were certain days I felt low in this post cure phase where I experienced certain glitches in my speech which I faced when I was anxious plus I was mentally exhausted due to studies or when I was facing health issues like sinusitis, sore throat with headache. During such times I didn’t feel like speaking or I spoke very hesitantly as it was difficult for me to speak anything and felt like I would stutter If I spoke more. During such times I made sure I stayed calm & followed what Lee has always advised use the crutch 11 (stop talking or talk very less). I chose not to give any chance for stutter threat to turn into a reality.
Through all these ups and downs my speech coach Prathusha constantly supported & motivated me. when I had any issues she made me comfortable that whatever I was going through was absolutely normal & I will get over it. Whenever we had a session, she heard all my issues with patience & gave me practical solutions to all my problems which I was facing. She even guided me in other areas related to my career, be it advice on how to crack interviews to helpful suggestions on how to gel with people & making social bonds. I feel truly blessed that I have WSSA & Prathusha to catch my back whenever I require any help.
My life has totally changed since I have joined WSSA and it is the reason why I am not just living my life but enjoying it to the fullest.
Yes this amazing & supportive organization not only helped me free myself from the clutches of stuttering but also gave me the ability to see the brighter side in all situations which I feel is the biggest life lesson. As I attended the SAM meetings, I felt so much better to hear and interact with people who have been through the same difficulties. The whole Journey with WSSA till now has been very fulfilling in every aspect, enriching my personality and Inspiring me to work harder.
Recently I also read the excellent book “Happiness in 7 steps” by Lee G. Lovett. Since I read it, I have made it a commitment now to follow all the Five “L’s” throughout the whole day.
I also benefited a lot by hearing the podcasts and reading the blogs by coaches on the WSSA website! The amount of hard work and passion you have put into making this website into a treasure of motivation, learning and knowledge is commendable. Kudos to WSSA & its coaches and the whole team behind it for this valuable and best on the earth facility for PWS. You are truly the angels & saviours sent by god to help PWS and people who suffer from speech anxiety. Thank you so much! 🙂

thanks for sharing your story with us, and for the lovely comments about us!!
Stories liek yours is why we do this. You’re a living proof of that stuttering can be stopped!!
I’ve watched many of your coaching sessions with Lee and Prathusha, and it’s amazing how much you’ve improved and how good your speech is. I really enjoyed your speech in the SAM meeting. It was a very good example of how to speak passionately.
Hope to see you in the upcoming SAM meetings!!January 19, 2021 at 2:32 pm #28707ShubhamParticipantThank you Javier! You are always full of positivity and cheerfulness and I like your blogs a lot!

January 20, 2021 at 1:38 pm #28723ShubhamParticipantThanks a lot Leah! I too think same about you that your speech sounds so good in SAM meetings that I cant believe you were once a PWS. Also I listened to your podcast & you verbally portrayed your experiences so beautifully that I could picture it happening in my mind. I really got inspired that how much one can progress if one stays consistent in his/her efforts and not give up. I think if every PWS learns to build a strong attitude like you they will expedite their self-cure way more fast and become the best public speakers.
