This is a bit of an “unconventional” one, but ever since I was a kid (I actually had not met Lee yet), whenever I would relay a story to people, I would put an accent on when quoting what someone said. It was usually a British or Texan accent and I did it because I knew that I would not stutter when I used an accent. People always used to start laughing asking why the person I was speaking about suddenly became British/Texan. I would laugh along and just continue my accent. I do not use it as much anymore (as I do not need it), but when I still want to be really silly then I put on my different accents.
By the way, due to my stutter days, I now have the greatest British accent that I can fool even a British person! The point is – there may not be many avenues to use the accent crutch, but if it arises, grab it with both hands. It makes the story fun and you will avoid an embarrassing stutter! Win, win!
