We just had a question posed by a PWS regarding the best way to prepare for an upcoming presentation. I believe that Crutch 11 is your best friend in this situation as it forces you to speak slowly, like a King/Queen, take pauses and pronounce your words clearly so that the listener is able to take in exactly what you are saying. Remember that this is the first time the listener is hearing your material, and you racing through it does not help anybody.
Another plus is that when you speak calmly, you trick your brain into thinking that you are in fact calm. This then has the effect of actually calming your mind and body down. A win-win! I still try my best to speak this way all of the time as I feel much more in control of myself and of my speech. Does anybody else have some tips regarding this? Comment below and let us know what you think!
